Annual Report 2025 (pdf)
This second annual report presents the development of Integreat throughout 2025 — a year of consolidation and the first visible results of the centre’s efforts. Having established its foundation and research structures, Integreat has moved fully into its project phase, with interdisciplinary collaborations maturing into sustained scientific work and a growing stream of publications, initiatives, and external recognition.
Integreat now comprises approximately 100 members across its hubs in Oslo and Tromsø, including principal investigators, doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, students, and administrative staff. What began as a structural framework has developed into a functioning research community, where methodological diversity and disciplinary dialogue shape both questions and solutions.
The research carried out in 2025 reflects the centre’s long-term ambition: to integrate general and domain-specific knowledge into machine learning in ways that strengthen accuracy, interpretability, fairness, sustainability, and uncertainty quantification. Rather than following short-term technological trends, Integreat continues to build foundational methods that aim to support trustworthy AI in science, health, industry, and society. In a rapidly evolving global AI landscape, the centre maintains its commitment to open research, critical reflection, and interdisciplinary rigor.
Annual Report 2024 (pdf)
This inaugural annual report presents the progress of Integreat, the Norwegian Centre for Knowledge-driven Machine Learning, over its first one-and-a-half years. During this period, the centre has focused on establishing its foundation, fostering collaboration, and refining its strategic direction in response to advancements in generative artificial intelligence and interdisciplinary insights.
Integreat is now a well-established research centre with approximately 100 members, including master's students, doctoral research fellows, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and administrative staff. With hubs in Oslo and Tromsø, the centre provides a dynamic environment for research and innovation.
The research conducted at Integreat addresses key challenges in machine learning, introducing new approaches to improve precision, account for uncertainty, and enhance sustainability, fairness, and explainability. At a time when AI development is increasingly shaped by commercial interests, Integreat aims to contribute to the advancement of AI as a tool for equitable and responsible technological progress.
