The course was led by Leiv Rønneberg, a postdoctoral fellow at the Norwegian Centre for Knowledge-driven Machine Learning, Integreat. He introduced participants to topics such as logistic regression, linear algebra and the chain rule for differentiation, with the aim of making AI more accessible and relevant in the classroom. Curriculum alignment was provided by Knut Skrindo (Oslo Cathedral School), while Ane Krogsæter Aarre (FIKS, UiO) served as course coordinator.
The course was developed in collaboration between the City of Oslo and the University of Oslo (UiO) as part of the Science Group’s work within the FIKS–Oslo schools partnership. It brought together mentors and teachers from Oslo schools with academic staff from several UiO faculties. While primarily aimed at mathematics teachers in upper secondary schools/high schools, it was also open to teachers from across the entire primary and secondary education system.
The next course days are 15 October and 13 November 2025. Read more about the course here.
