Mind matters day

World Mental Health day in Integreat

At Integreat, researchers push boundaries in science every day. But we also know that great ideas need healthy minds behind them. On 8 October, World Mental Health Day, we pause to shine a light on mental wellbeing in research life — to remind ourselves that resilience, openness, and balance are as vital as curiosity and hard work. This day is about creating space: to reflect, to connect, and to take mental health seriously as part of our shared journey as a research community.

We believe that science grows strongest when people feel safe to be open — with each other and with themselves. Mental resilience is not about never struggling, but about knowing we can lean on our community when we do. We want to create a space where it is possible to speak honestly, to pause, and to listen without judgment. Research is full of uncertainty, and failure is part of the process; here, it can also be part of the conversation.

At the Integreat General Assembly this day, our inclusiveness officer, PhD Fellow Elisabeth M. Griesbauer, will dedicate some time to reflect on themes that touch us all as researchers — resilience, wellbeing, and how we navigate the ups and downs of academic life. This will not be a session about personal sharing, but an opportunity to listen, to recognise common experiences, and to take away ideas that may strengthen both ourselves and our community.
